Applications are invited for Technician (Molecular Biology Lab) contractual position at IISER Kolkata. The post is funded by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Govt. of India under a multi-institutional project entitled "Multi-dimensional Research to Enable Systems Medicine: Acceleration using a Cluster Approach" (SyMec).
Tenure of  the post  will be initially for one year but likely to be extended for two more years subject to availability of fund and performance of the candidate.

Emolument: Rs. 18,000 per month (consolidated) with provision for performance-based yearly increment.

Essential Qualifications:
·         Master’s degree in any branch of Life Sciences/ Chemistry from a recognized University.

Desirable Qualifications:
·   Working experience in molecular biology and cell biology and prior experience in cell culture techniques, DNA/RNA extraction from cells and tissues, PCR and PCR-based genotyping, qPCR, ELISA, Western blot, Immunohistochemistry, Immunofluorescence techniques.
·    Prior experience in working in laboratory animal facility especially in handling small animals and knowledge about animal health monitoring procedures by molecular techniques and histology.
·         Knowledge of using computers for record keeping and data analysis.

 Job Description:
·     The molecular biology technicians will be responsible for routine genotyping, record keeping of the laboratory animals and ensuring their genetic integrity.
·       In addition the technician will be performing cell biological work and molecular biology work under SyMec  project.
·     Should not be allergic to animal odors/waste products/bedding materials and should be available on weekends/holidays for emergency duty.
